The Best Safety Guide is Rockwell Automation's Safety Techniques

Are you looking to design a safety system, but are unsure as to where to start? Rockwell Automation’s Safety Application Techniques can steer you in the right direction; whether you know what devices you plan to use or are still trying to figure it out.
The Safety Application Techniques are approved safety documents created by TUV certified Engineers with embedded programs and wiring diagrams. The best part – it’s FREE! Here are some of the things you can find in the document:
- An explanation of the concept behind the safety function
- Validations for the safety levels
- Wiring of the devices; as well as programming that may be required for logic devices
- Bills of Material for the items used in the function
There are hundreds of different documents to choose from depending on your required system. They have everything from simple emergency stop functions to the more complex safe speed applications. They also have documents for RA Guardmaster safety relays and Guardlogix. Variations are also available for different safety category levels and Performance Levels (PLd or PLe).
Now, how do you get to these documents? There is a Rockwell Safety Functions website that can be browsed to find the function you need. When you find the one you want, you click on the title and fill in a pop-up with your information. Once that is complete your document will be available for download.
The Rockwell Literature Library also holds these documents. By typing in the search bar “Safety Function” you can filter to show all available documents. You are also able to filter further by including hardware, such as “Safety Function, Guardlogix”.
We encourage all our customers to take advantage of these free safety documents to ensure proper setup of safety systems when using RA hardware.
